# Espresso in Buenos Aires

These cafés are worth a visit for espresso and milk drinks: flat white, cortado and the iced versions that fill menus in summer. flat&white and Lattente are built around the espresso bar, and Hobby splits its bar into an espresso station and a hand-brew station.

## The shops

1. [NEGRO Cueva de café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/negro-cueva-de-cafe.md) (San Nicolás · Must-try). Negro opened on Suipacha Street in 2015 as one of the first specialty coffee bars in the city centre, and this small room is still the flagship. Its coffee comes from its own roastery, Fuego Tostadores, which buys fresh-crop lots after visiting farms in Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia and Peru. The menu has a filter section: ask the barista which coffees and methods are on today. The team also runs Negro Escuela, a barista school founded in 2016. It opens on weekdays only, from 8 to 16. Negro Hollywood, opened in 2026, adds shelves of books and records for sale and a hand-brew menu for one or two.
2. [FRUTO CAFÉ](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/fruto-cafe.md) (Palermo Soho · Must-try). Fruto grew out of a trip to London, where the cofounders saved on supermarket food so they could visit the city's specialty coffee shops. Back in Buenos Aires they built the menu around the coffee: a wide choice of origins, made as espresso or by hand on V60, AeroPress, Chemex or French press. When La Nación visited this shop on Jorge Luis Borges, the V60 was the customers' favourite. The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026 placed Fruto 11th in the country. Order a filter and ask which origins are on that day.
3. [Hobby](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/hobby-cafe-de-especialidad.md) (Palermo Soho · Good). Hobby serves beans from Puerto Blest, one of Argentina's leading roasters, on a bar split into an espresso station and a manual brew station, with a Modbar system and Mahlkönig grinders. This branch sits on the ground floor of a boutique hotel on Malabia Street, with good light and an inner patio; a second Hobby is in Chacarita. Time Out recommends it for any time of day, from a chat to an hour of work. Order a pour-over, or a flat white.
4. [flat&white (sucursal cerrito)](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/flat-and-white-sucursal-cerrito.md) (Recoleta · Good). flat&white was founded in 2016 by Martina Vigo and Gabriel Gazdik, and it roasts its coffee on its own Diedrich, with Vigo at the roaster. The range leans light and lists single origins from Colombia, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Panama and Peru, some with the producer named. This café is on Cerrito, in Recoleta. The group also runs a coffee school with barista courses and tastings, and a bakery that supplies its cafés. It placed 20th in The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026. Have an espresso or a flat white, then take a bag of the current single origin home.
5. [CAFECITO](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/cafecito-tiny-coffee-shop-cafe-de-especialidad-palermo.md) (Palermo Hollywood · Must-try). Cafecito began in 2019 as a conversation between friends and now selects and roasts its own beans, sold with the farm, producer and process on each bag. At this corner of Palermo, a block from Pacífico, the bar pulls espresso and brews V60, Origami and Moccamaster with rotating lots. Among its current coffees is La Celeste, a honey-processed Castillo from Finca Más in Quindío, Colombia. The room has eight tables, a communal table for six, a small patio and two sidewalk tables, with wifi and plugs. Music is part of the place, so it can get loud. Breakfast, brunch and lunch plates sit next to the coffee.
6. [Lattente](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/lattente.md) (Palermo Soho · Must-try). Lattente opened in 2013, and Perfect Daily Grind dates the start of Argentina's specialty coffee movement to that opening: it was the first specialty coffee shop in Buenos Aires. More than a decade later it is still among the country's references, 12th in The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026. This café on Thames, in Palermo Soho, is one of three Lattente shops in the city, with the others on Cerviño and Azcuénaga. Come here to drink coffee at the place where the city's specialty scene started.
7. [La Ventana x Anafe](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/la-ventana-x-anafe-cafe-de-especialidad.md) (Palermo Hollywood · Good). La Ventana is the coffee bar of the team behind the restaurant Anafe, chef Mica Najmanovich and Nico Arcucci. The coffee comes from Fuego Tostadores, a Buenos Aires roaster, and Sprudge picked out the seasonal Brazilian blend, with notes of almond and chocolate, as a match for the medialunas. The bar makes espresso drinks, cold brew and a refillable batch filter, and sells quarter-kilo bags of its Fuego coffee. Food leads the menu, with breakfast all day, lunch plates and cakes, in a cozy room with mismatched chairs.
8. [ÖSS Kaffe](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/oss-kaffe.md) (Belgrano · Must-try). ÖSS Kaffe began in a converted garage in 2017 and now has cafés across Buenos Aires plus branches in Montevideo, Barcelona and Madrid. The coffee comes from Puerto Blest, and the team puts weight on traceability; it also runs classes and tastings. Beyond espresso, the menu has its own drinks, such as the frappu, the cubanito and an affogato. This Belgrano branch on Franklin D. Roosevelt is the one the guides list first, and Time Out notes that here you drink your coffee outdoors.
9. [Cobre Café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/cobre-cafe.md) (Villa Crespo · Good). Cobre is a specialty café in Villa Crespo whose website says its baristas hold SCA certification. Filter coffee has its own section on the menu, brewed by V60, Chemex or AeroPress, and the site's "now brewing" board names the coffees in rotation, such as a Bourbon Rosado from Colombia, a Wush Wush from Ethiopia and a Geisha from Peru. The kitchen does viennoiserie, chipa sandwiches and a brunch menu, so it works for a slow breakfast as well as a quick flat white. Bags of specialty coffee are sold at the counter.
10. [Clorindo Café/Brunch](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/clorindo-cafe-brunch.md) (Recoleta · Good). Clorindo fills the inner patio of the Ricardo Güiraldes public library, a Tudor-style building from 1921, and its design is a tribute to the architect Clorindo Testa: concrete, wood and iron, curved furniture, blue, cream and orange tones, and tiered seats at the back. Time Out Buenos Aires names the coffee as the highlight, with espresso drinks and filter coffee on the menu. The other half of the menu is brunch, and the counter has raspberry pepas and a carrot cake cookie. It is a quiet place to sit, with outlets on the patio wall if you need to work.
11. [Primero](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/primero-cafe-de-especialidad.md) (Villa Crespo · Good). Primero Café says it works with single-origin beans roasted in Buenos Aires, and the menu stays close to the coffee: espresso, flat white, a filter coffee whose options the staff will tell you about, an 18-hour cold brew and espresso tonic. To eat there are cinnamon rolls, medialunas, cookies and toasties on sourdough. The Villa Crespo café, on Thames, has a deck on the sidewalk. It placed 22nd in The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026. Order the filter and ask what is on that day.
12. [Café Boheme](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/cafe-boheme-cafe-de-especialidad.md) (San Nicolás · Good). Café Boheme is a small espresso bar on Libertad street in the city centre, across the street from a plaza. It works mostly as a take-away counter, and the plaza opposite gives you somewhere to sit with your cup. The menu is built on espresso: flat whites and chai lattes, with pastries and pão de queijo on the side. It opens early on weekdays and closes on Sundays.
13. [DOC Café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/doc-cafe.md) (Villa Crespo · Good). DOC is a neighbourhood specialty café on Aráoz in Villa Crespo that set out to be a meeting point built around good coffee. The current menu lists filtered coffee for one person by Origami, V60 or AeroPress, and for two by Chemex or V60, next to the usual espresso drinks, served at 65 °C unless you ask for it hotter. Its website explains how it picks coffees for their origin and process. The kitchen runs brunch, lunches and pastries, and beans and brewing gear are sold through its online shop.
14. [WALDEN Café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/walden-cafe.md) (Villa Crespo · Good). Walden is a small specialty café on Gurruchaga, in Villa Crespo, whose menu starts with coffee: espresso, doppio, a double ristretto with milk called the magic, flat white, and iced versions of the classics. Its house bean is a washed Colombia Supremo from Huila, Caturra and Castillo grown at 1,500 metres by small producers, scored 83 on its own cupping card, with notes of panela, ripe stone fruit and milk chocolate. The same coffee is sold in 250 g bags. Sourdough toasts, cookies and a cinnamon roll fill the rest of the menu.
15. [Cobin Specialty Coffee](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/cobin-specialty-coffee.md) (Almagro · Good). Cobin is a small specialty coffee bar on the corner of Jerónimo Salguero and Plaza Almagro, a few steps from the Medrano subway station. Besides espresso drinks it brews filter coffee by hand, including Chemex, and it sells the beans it uses, ground to the size you need for your brewer at home. Seating is a few tables and bar stools, and dogs are welcome. Order a filter and ask which beans they are brewing.
16. [Rondó Cafe](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/rondo-cafe.md) (Retiro · Good). Rondó is a coffee bar on Uruguay street, on the edge of Recoleta, that builds its menu around beans selected from Guatemala. The drink it is known for is the flat white, made with two ristretto shots and textured milk, and the house latte, the Latte Rondó, puts two espresso shots into a 250 ml cup. It opens on weekdays and on Saturdays, which makes it an easy stop for a short, careful milk coffee while you walk the city centre.
17. [Bari Coffee & Drinks](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/bari-coffee-and-drinks.md) (San Nicolás · Good). Bari Coffee & Drinks on Avenida Corrientes keeps a longer coffee shelf than most bars this size. The menu sells 250 g bags with the origin on the label: Castillo from Fincas de Guadalupe in natural and washed versions, Nueva Segovia and Altiplano from Nicaragua, Atitlán, Quiché and a Geisha from Guatemala, and Nyeri and Machakos from Kenya. You can order V60 for one or two cups, or stay with espresso, flat white or an espresso tonic. Pastries, bagels and wraps cover the food, and later in the day the list adds beer, gin and tonic and vermouth.
18. [Good Joe](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/good-joe-coffee-to-go.md) (Belgrano · Good). Good Joe calls itself a specialty café, and the name says how it works: coffee to go, with a short menu and no long wait. Beyond espresso, ristretto, flat white and lattes, it brews filter by hand, an AeroPress for one person or a Chemex for two, and a cold brew that is steeped and then filtered. The menu is short by design, with its own pastries and simple food. The brand has a second shop in Acassuso, outside the city.
19. [Zeta Café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/zeta-cafe.md) (Caballito · Good). Zeta is a family café on Avenida Pedro Goyena in Caballito, open since August 2025. The family designed and built the room themselves, and it is set up for long stays, with plugs for laptops, and dogs are welcome. The coffee is a specialty Catuaí blend from Brazil, ground to order for the espresso bar: flat white, latte, cappuccino. The pastry is made in house, from croissants filled with pastry cream to a Basque cheesecake, and there are gluten-free options. Bring work and stay a while.
20. [Birdy Birds Specialty Coffee Shop](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/birdy-birds-specialty-coffee-shop.md) (Villa Crespo · Good). Birdy Birds is a Villa Crespo café with a Russian streak. The counter carries medovik honey cake, syrniki made with ricotta, pepa rusa and cinnamon rolls, and the drinks list adds RAF coffee and sbiten, a spiced coffee with orange juice and honey. For a plain cup there is espresso, flat white and a V60 by the cup, with almond and lactose-free milk on request. A gluten-free section covers keto empanadas and cakes without sugar. It opens at 7:30 and closes at 20:00.
