# Buenos Aires coffee guide

How to plan a coffee day in Buenos Aires: where the roasters are, which neighbourhoods to base yourself in, what to order and how to take beans home.

Buenos Aires has a long café culture, from the historic cafés of Avenida de Mayo and Corrientes, but its specialty scene is young. Coffee Town opened its counter in the Mercado de San Telmo in 2012, Lattente followed in 2013, and Negro opened on Suipacha Street in 2015 as the first specialty bar in the city centre. Since then a group of cafés has started roasting for itself, among them Tres, Cuervo, LAB Tostadores, The Shelter Coffee, flat&white and Manifiesto, and the national edition of The Best Coffee Shops ranking now lists dozens of shops in the city.

Argentina does not grow coffee, so every bean is imported. Menus name the origin and often the farm and process: Negro and Tres have both used a washed Colombian from Huila, and the filter list usually rotates between Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Ethiopia, Kenya or Rwanda. Ask the barista what is on filter today; V60, Chemex and AeroPress are standard at the stronger bars.

For a first coffee day, base yourself in Palermo. In Palermo Soho, Cuervo, Hobby, Fruto, Full City and Lattente are a short walk apart; cross Avenida Juan B. Justo into Palermo Hollywood for LAB Tostadores, Vive Café and Negro Hollywood. Colegiales and Chacarita, next door, hold Tres, Blanca Studio, Cuervo's roastery café and a branch of The Shelter Coffee. Downtown, Negro's bars on Suipacha and Tucumán, flat&white and Manifiesto make a good morning between Retiro and San Nicolás. Belgrano and Núñez, further north, have their own cluster around Avenida Cabildo and Juramento.

Most specialty cafés open between 8 and 9 in the morning and close around 8 in the evening; few stay open late. Some of the strongest bars keep short hours: LAB Tostadores and Blanca Studio open on weekdays only, and Cuervo closes on Mondays. Weekends bring queues at the popular Palermo cafés, so go early.

To take coffee home, buy from a roaster. Tres, Cuervo, flat&white, Manifiesto and Full City all sell bags of their current lots, usually in 250 g packs, and most will grind for your method if you ask. Check the roast date on the bag and choose the lightest roast you enjoy; a single origin you tasted on filter is the best souvenir.

## Where to start

1. [NEGRO Cueva de café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/negro-cueva-de-cafe.md) (San Nicolás · Must-try). Negro opened on Suipacha Street in 2015 as one of the first specialty coffee bars in the city centre, and this small room is still the flagship. Its coffee comes from its own roastery, Fuego Tostadores, which buys fresh-crop lots after visiting farms in Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia and Peru. The menu has a filter section: ask the barista which coffees and methods are on today. The team also runs Negro Escuela, a barista school founded in 2016. It opens on weekdays only, from 8 to 16. Negro Hollywood, opened in 2026, adds shelves of books and records for sale and a hand-brew menu for one or two.
2. [Tres](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/tres.md) (Colegiales · Must-try). Tres roasts its coffee a few steps from the bar, behind a glass panel, so you can watch the roaster while you order. It is run by Agustina Román, the 2013 Argentine barista champion, and in 2026 the first edition of The Best Coffee Shops Argentina put it at number one. The room is small and minimalist, a short walk from the Colegiales train station. Espresso and filter both come from the house roasts; recent coverage describes a Colombian coffee with bright citrus notes. Try the espresso tiramisu, and take beans home.
3. [BLANCA Studio](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/blanca-studio.md) (Chacarita · Must-try). Blanca Studio is the small coffee room of the Blanca group, built around manual brewing on a Modbar undercounter system. It roasts its own coffee, and the baristas walk you through each one; Sprudge tasted a Pink Bourbon from Pitalito, Colombia, with notes of dark chocolate, papaya and pineapple. It ranked second in The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026. There is room for about eight people and records play. Pair a filter with the cardamom roll. Open on weekdays, 9 to 19:30. The group's other cafés, in Palermo, Las Cañitas and Recoleta, are design shops with a coffee bar, better for browsing than for the cup.
4. [Cuervo Café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/cuervo-cafe.md) (Chacarita · Must-try). Cuervo began as a café run by two musicians and grew into one of the city's roasters, supplying other cafés too. It has roasted its own coffee since 2021, and this Chacarita branch, on the corner of Jorge Newbery and Guevara, is where the roaster sits in view. Besides the house blends, its shop sells small lots such as a Bourbon Sidra and a Wush Wush from the Patio Bonito farm, and the bar brews filter as well as espresso. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 8 to 20. The Belgrano café, in an old house on Juramento, also makes its own ice cream, so order the affogato there.
5. [LAB. Training Center & Coffee Shop](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/lab-training-center-and-coffee-shop.md) (Palermo Hollywood · Must-try). LAB is one of the roasters that started specialty coffee in Buenos Aires, and in 2025 it made The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops. Everyone sits at one long bar facing the baristas, so it is easy to ask about the coffees, which LAB roasts itself; its shop names farm lots such as La Marianela and La Catalina from Colombia. The team also makes bean-to-bar chocolate and runs courses for home brewers and professionals. Order a filter, or the coffee kombucha if you want something different.
6. [Vive Café Cafe de especialidad , cafés de campeonatos](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/vive-cafe-cafe-de-especialidad-cafes-de-campeonatos.md) (Palermo Hollywood · Must-try). Vive Café specialises in Colombian coffee and says it buys directly from growers. The bags read like a map of the country: a washed lot from the Paeces indigenous cooperative in Inzá, Cauca, a honey-processed yellow Caturra from Planadas, Tolima, and a natural Bourbon Sidra from Finca Las Flores, sold as a competition lot. Each one lists producer or region, altitude, variety and process, and you can take beans home ground for V60, Chemex or AeroPress. The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026 ranked Vive fourth in the country.
7. [The Shelter Coffee](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/the-shelter-coffee.md) (Balvanera · Good). The Shelter roasts its own coffee at its Uriburu Street café and lists each bean with its origin, variety and process: a natural Bourbon Amarillo from Minas Gerais, a washed coffee from Huila, a Nicaraguan Dipilto. Filters are brewed to order in V60, Chemex, AeroPress or French press. This Balvanera branch is the roastery, the one Sprudge picked out, and you can buy 250 g or 1 kg bags of the same coffees to take home. In summer there are iced drinks and an orange cold brew. It works on a weekday schedule, so plan a morning visit. Time Out calls the Belgrano café, on Virrey Loreto, the crown jewel of the group.
8. [FRUTO CAFÉ](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/fruto-cafe.md) (Palermo Soho · Must-try). Fruto grew out of a trip to London, where the cofounders saved on supermarket food so they could visit the city's specialty coffee shops. Back in Buenos Aires they built the menu around the coffee: a wide choice of origins, made as espresso or by hand on V60, AeroPress, Chemex or French press. When La Nación visited this shop on Jorge Luis Borges, the V60 was the customers' favourite. The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026 placed Fruto 11th in the country. Order a filter and ask which origins are on that day.
9. [Hobby](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/hobby-cafe-de-especialidad.md) (Palermo Soho · Good). Hobby serves beans from Puerto Blest, one of Argentina's leading roasters, on a bar split into an espresso station and a manual brew station, with a Modbar system and Mahlkönig grinders. This branch sits on the ground floor of a boutique hotel on Malabia Street, with good light and an inner patio; a second Hobby is in Chacarita. Time Out recommends it for any time of day, from a chat to an hour of work. Order a pour-over, or a flat white.
10. [flat&white (sucursal cerrito)](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/flat-and-white-sucursal-cerrito.md) (Recoleta · Good). flat&white was founded in 2016 by Martina Vigo and Gabriel Gazdik, and it roasts its coffee on its own Diedrich, with Vigo at the roaster. The range leans light and lists single origins from Colombia, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Panama and Peru, some with the producer named. This café is on Cerrito, in Recoleta. The group also runs a coffee school with barista courses and tastings, and a bakery that supplies its cafés. It placed 20th in The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026. Have an espresso or a flat white, then take a bag of the current single origin home.
11. [Traje Café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/traje-cafe.md) (Caballito · Must-try). Traje Café presents itself as a group of Buenos Aires micro-roasters, so the coffee in your cup is roasted by the people who run the bar. This shop is on Avenida Díaz Vélez in Caballito, a residential stretch near Parque Centenario, and there is a second one on Avenida Boedo. The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026 placed Traje 49th in the country. Ask which coffee they are roasting now and order it the way the barista suggests.
12. [MANIFIESTO (Nuñez)](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/manifiesto-nunez.md) (Núñez · Must-try). Manifiesto sums itself up as "we roast, we serve and we bring coffee to your home". It roasts its own beans, sold by lot: Chambaku from Colombia, Sertao from Brazil, Rivasplata and Caracolillo from Peru, plus coffees from Honduras and Rwanda, and it supplies more than a hundred cafés and businesses. This café is on Arribeños, in Núñez, and stays open into the evening from Wednesday to Sunday. Its academy runs espresso and filter workshops for beginners and a full barista course. It placed 39th in The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026. Ask which lot is on the grinder.
13. [CAFECITO](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/cafecito-tiny-coffee-shop-cafe-de-especialidad-palermo.md) (Palermo Hollywood · Must-try). Cafecito began in 2019 as a conversation between friends and now selects and roasts its own beans, sold with the farm, producer and process on each bag. At this corner of Palermo, a block from Pacífico, the bar pulls espresso and brews V60, Origami and Moccamaster with rotating lots. Among its current coffees is La Celeste, a honey-processed Castillo from Finca Más in Quindío, Colombia. The room has eight tables, a communal table for six, a small patio and two sidewalk tables, with wifi and plugs. Music is part of the place, so it can get loud. Breakfast, brunch and lunch plates sit next to the coffee.
14. [Lattente](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/lattente.md) (Palermo Soho · Must-try). Lattente opened in 2013, and Perfect Daily Grind dates the start of Argentina's specialty coffee movement to that opening: it was the first specialty coffee shop in Buenos Aires. More than a decade later it is still among the country's references, 12th in The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026. This café on Thames, in Palermo Soho, is one of three Lattente shops in the city, with the others on Cerviño and Azcuénaga. Come here to drink coffee at the place where the city's specialty scene started.
15. [Raíz](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/raiz-cafe-de-especialidad.md) (Villa Crespo · Good). Raíz is a neighbourhood specialty café on Aguirre Street in Villa Crespo, and its filter coffee is the reason to go: Time Out called its filters exceptional, made with care. Upstairs there is a quieter floor that Time Out recommends for studying or working without hurry. In 2026 it ranked tenth in The Best Coffee Shops Argentina, the national list judged by a jury and a public vote. Order a filter and ask the barista what is brewing that day.
16. [La Ventana x Anafe](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/la-ventana-x-anafe-cafe-de-especialidad.md) (Palermo Hollywood · Good). La Ventana is the coffee bar of the team behind the restaurant Anafe, chef Mica Najmanovich and Nico Arcucci. The coffee comes from Fuego Tostadores, a Buenos Aires roaster, and Sprudge picked out the seasonal Brazilian blend, with notes of almond and chocolate, as a match for the medialunas. The bar makes espresso drinks, cold brew and a refillable batch filter, and sells quarter-kilo bags of its Fuego coffee. Food leads the menu, with breakfast all day, lunch plates and cakes, in a cozy room with mismatched chairs.
17. [ÖSS Kaffe](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/oss-kaffe.md) (Belgrano · Must-try). ÖSS Kaffe began in a converted garage in 2017 and now has cafés across Buenos Aires plus branches in Montevideo, Barcelona and Madrid. The coffee comes from Puerto Blest, and the team puts weight on traceability; it also runs classes and tastings. Beyond espresso, the menu has its own drinks, such as the frappu, the cubanito and an affogato. This Belgrano branch on Franklin D. Roosevelt is the one the guides list first, and Time Out notes that here you drink your coffee outdoors.
18. [Cora Cafe](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/cora-cafe.md) (Retiro · Good). Cora is on the ground floor of the Kavanagh, the art deco tower facing Plaza San Martín that iProfesional's Silvina Reusmann called the most beautiful building in the city. The café takes its name from Corina Kavanagh, the woman behind the building, and its room follows the building's art deco style, which Reusmann described as a trip back in time. She also wrote that the place alone is worth the visit. The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026 placed Cora 29th in the country. Pair a coffee here with a walk around the plaza.
19. [Cobre Café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/cobre-cafe.md) (Villa Crespo · Good). Cobre is a specialty café in Villa Crespo whose website says its baristas hold SCA certification. Filter coffee has its own section on the menu, brewed by V60, Chemex or AeroPress, and the site's "now brewing" board names the coffees in rotation, such as a Bourbon Rosado from Colombia, a Wush Wush from Ethiopia and a Geisha from Peru. The kitchen does viennoiserie, chipa sandwiches and a brunch menu, so it works for a slow breakfast as well as a quick flat white. Bags of specialty coffee are sold at the counter.
20. [Clorindo Café/Brunch](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/clorindo-cafe-brunch.md) (Recoleta · Good). Clorindo fills the inner patio of the Ricardo Güiraldes public library, a Tudor-style building from 1921, and its design is a tribute to the architect Clorindo Testa: concrete, wood and iron, curved furniture, blue, cream and orange tones, and tiered seats at the back. Time Out Buenos Aires names the coffee as the highlight, with espresso drinks and filter coffee on the menu. The other half of the menu is brunch, and the counter has raspberry pepas and a carrot cake cookie. It is a quiet place to sit, with outlets on the patio wall if you need to work.
21. [Kajue Café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/kajue-cafe.md) (Palermo Soho · Good). Kajue opened in Palermo Soho in 2019, started by Nathaly and Eduardo, who met at a café in Caracas. It is a coffee house and bistro: the long menu runs from brunch and Venezuelan breakfasts to cakes, but the coffee list is real. Single origins from Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras and Colombia go into espresso or a special lot brewed by hand in V60, Chemex, AeroPress or French press. South America's 100 Best Coffee Shops listed it in 2026. From Wednesday to Saturday it stays open until 21.
22. [Primero](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/primero-cafe-de-especialidad.md) (Villa Crespo · Good). Primero Café says it works with single-origin beans roasted in Buenos Aires, and the menu stays close to the coffee: espresso, flat white, a filter coffee whose options the staff will tell you about, an 18-hour cold brew and espresso tonic. To eat there are cinnamon rolls, medialunas, cookies and toasties on sourdough. The Villa Crespo café, on Thames, has a deck on the sidewalk. It placed 22nd in The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026. Order the filter and ask what is on that day.
23. [Meme Coffee](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/meme-coffee.md) (Palermo · Good). Meme Coffee is a small coffee shop on Dorrego, in Palermo. It placed 9th in The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026, the national edition of The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops, which combines a jury of coffee people with a public vote. The jury and the voters put it among the country's top hundred coffee shops, which is the reason to stop by. Ask at the bar which coffee is in the grinder that day, who roasted it, and whether they brew filter.
24. [Café Razo](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/cafe-razo.md) (Núñez · Good). Café Razo calls itself a bakery, deli and coffee bar, and the coffee holds its own. In 2026 Time Out put this Besares shop on its list of new specialty cafés, noting that the cups are consistent whether you order a filter or an espresso drink. The menu offers V60 and AeroPress filters, a daily batch brew, flat whites and cold brew, and bags of Puerto Blest coffee are for sale. Ask for the pistachio cookie Time Out singled out. The breads are slow-fermented sourdough, and there is a second Razo on Quesada.
25. [Café Boheme](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/cafe-boheme-cafe-de-especialidad.md) (San Nicolás · Good). Café Boheme is a small espresso bar on Libertad street in the city centre, across the street from a plaza. It works mostly as a take-away counter, and the plaza opposite gives you somewhere to sit with your cup. The menu is built on espresso: flat whites and chai lattes, with pastries and pão de queijo on the side. It opens early on weekdays and closes on Sundays.
26. [DOC Café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/doc-cafe.md) (Villa Crespo · Good). DOC is a neighbourhood specialty café on Aráoz in Villa Crespo that set out to be a meeting point built around good coffee. The current menu lists filtered coffee for one person by Origami, V60 or AeroPress, and for two by Chemex or V60, next to the usual espresso drinks, served at 65 °C unless you ask for it hotter. Its website explains how it picks coffees for their origin and process. The kitchen runs brunch, lunches and pastries, and beans and brewing gear are sold through its online shop.
27. [WALDEN Café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/walden-cafe.md) (Villa Crespo · Good). Walden is a small specialty café on Gurruchaga, in Villa Crespo, whose menu starts with coffee: espresso, doppio, a double ristretto with milk called the magic, flat white, and iced versions of the classics. Its house bean is a washed Colombia Supremo from Huila, Caturra and Castillo grown at 1,500 metres by small producers, scored 83 on its own cupping card, with notes of panela, ripe stone fruit and milk chocolate. The same coffee is sold in 250 g bags. Sourdough toasts, cookies and a cinnamon roll fill the rest of the menu.
28. [Van Atleet Club](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/van-atleet-club.md) (Núñez · Good). Van Atleet is a coffee house and clothing brand for people who love sport, opened in 2026 on Arribeños in Núñez. It serves its own coffee, roasted in La Cumbre, and sells the same single origin, Café Amelia, in 250 g bags to take home. The club house has a European-inspired design, with space to meet friends, work or stay all day, and the shelves carry the club's own T-shirts and hoodies. The team calls it a club, and its newsletter announces events.
29. [WAT COFFEE](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/wat-coffee.md) (Monserrat · Good). WAT Coffee is a coffee shop on Chile street, in Monserrat. It placed 24th in The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026, the national edition of The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops, which combines a jury of coffee people with a public vote. The jury and the voters put it among the country's top hundred coffee shops, which is the reason to stop by. Ask at the bar which coffee is in the grinder that day, who roasted it, and whether they brew filter.
30. [Vedra Cafe C](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/vedra-cafe-c.md) (Belgrano · Good). Vedra calls itself a pastry and specialty coffee café, and Time Out's Sol Mohadeb picked this Belgrano shop as a place to work or study. The room recalls a school but with a modern, pleasant design, with a shared table and a bar with power outlets for laptops. The drinks go beyond the basics: an apple pie latte made with an apple reduction and sweet spices, and a cold brew with grapefruit syrup and merkén. The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026 placed Vedra 27th in the country.
31. [onno café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/onno-cafe.md) (Almagro · Good). Onno describes itself as a café en casita, a coffee shop in a house, on Río de Janeiro in Almagro, a few blocks from the Ángel Gallardo stop on subway line B. It sits well away from the Palermo cluster. The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026, a national ranking decided by a jury and a public vote, placed Onno 31st in the country. It is worth the stop if you are near Almagro, Caballito or Villa Crespo.
32. [Cobin Specialty Coffee](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/cobin-specialty-coffee.md) (Almagro · Good). Cobin is a small specialty coffee bar on the corner of Jerónimo Salguero and Plaza Almagro, a few steps from the Medrano subway station. Besides espresso drinks it brews filter coffee by hand, including Chemex, and it sells the beans it uses, ground to the size you need for your brewer at home. Seating is a few tables and bar stools, and dogs are welcome. Order a filter and ask which beans they are brewing.
33. [Rondó Cafe](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/rondo-cafe.md) (Retiro · Good). Rondó is a coffee bar on Uruguay street, on the edge of Recoleta, that builds its menu around beans selected from Guatemala. The drink it is known for is the flat white, made with two ristretto shots and textured milk, and the house latte, the Latte Rondó, puts two espresso shots into a 250 ml cup. It opens on weekdays and on Saturdays, which makes it an easy stop for a short, careful milk coffee while you walk the city centre.
34. [Hábito Café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/habito-cafe.md) (Monserrat · Good). Hábito has served specialty coffee on México Street in Monserrat for more than ten years, as its own bio puts it. The beans come from Puerto Blest, a well-known Argentine specialty roaster, and its posts mention a natural coffee from Guatemala on the bar. The pastry is baked in house, so a coffee and something sweet is the natural order here. It is a calm stop between San Telmo and the Congreso area.
35. [Jaramillo Cafe](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/jaramillo-cafe.md) (Núñez · Good). Jaramillo is a sunny corner café on 11 de Septiembre in Núñez, and Time Out picked it for doing the classics well: espresso, iced latte and iced americano, plus an espresso with hibiscus in summer. Its own menu also offers V60 filter, which its posts suggest as the first coffee of the day. The kitchen is busy too, with bagels, granola bowls, cinnamon rolls and lunch, so it suits a long morning. There is a second Jaramillo in Belgrano, on Manuel Ugarte.
36. [Nordic Coffee](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/nordic-coffee-cafe-de-especialidad.md) (Villa Urquiza · Good). Nordic is a Villa Urquiza café with a Scandinavian theme: every handmade cup and takeaway cup carries a rune, and the website explains what yours means. The coffee side is more concrete than the theme. The menu has a V60 for one or two cups, with a choice of Brazil or Colombia, and a cold brew steeped for 20 hours. The beans for sale are Colombian and labelled in detail, among them a washed Castillo from southwest Antioquia grown at 1,900 metres, a Geisha and a rum-infused lot from Chinchiná, Caldas. Carrot cake is the house's most ordered sweet.
37. [Sélica](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/selica-specialty-coffee.md) (Belgrano · Good). Sélica, on Ciudad de la Paz in Belgrano, calls itself a specialty coffee house with handmade pastry. The menu lists a V60 filter, for one person or for two, next to the espresso drinks, from a double espresso to a flat white and a mocha latte, plus iced versions. The pastry is the other half of the counter: lemon and banana loaf cakes, cinnamon rolls, croissants and an alfajor with a coffee ganache centre. Toasts and a few sandwiches cover lunch. If you come with a friend, order the V60 for two.

It opens every day from morning to evening and you do not need to book. The Best Coffee Shops Argentina 2026, a national ranking decided by a jury and a public vote, placed Sosa 42nd in the country, which puts it among several ranked cafés in Colegiales and nearby Belgrano. Stop in for a coffee on a walk through the neighbourhood.

Order a filter coffee and add something from the counter; the list mentions cinnamon rolls, marquise, cookies and croissants filled with avocado.
42. [Siba Café Especial](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/siba-cafe-especial.md) (Núñez · Good). Siba is a small café on Montañeses in Núñez, with a bar, a few tables with outlets, and a white, bright, minimal room that Time Out Buenos Aires describes as good for focus. The same 2024 Time Out list of specialty cafés for studying and remote work calls its coffee exceptional. For something sweet, look for the red velvet cookie or the gluten-free, vegan banana and peanut cookie; for something savoury, the croissant with halloumi.
43. [Porta negra cafe de especialidad](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/porta-negra-cafe-de-especialidad.md) (Villa Urquiza · Good). Porta Negra is a small specialty café on Avenida Mendoza in Villa Urquiza, and it roasts the coffee it serves, which it also sells by the quarter kilo. The counter keeps to simple things that go with a cup: chipá, cookies, alfajores and cinnamon rolls. It is a neighbourhood place, and it welcomes dogs. A second Porta Negra, with the same coffee, is in Saavedra on Crisólogo Larralde.
44. [Black Mug Specialty Coffee](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/black-mug-specialty-coffee.md) (Recoleta · Good). Black Mug calls itself a specialty coffee roaster, and this café on Paraguay Street, in the Barrio Norte part of Recoleta, is one of its two shops. It is a short, simple stop: an espresso or a milk drink with a croissant before work, close to Avenida Pueyrredón and Plaza Houssay. The other Black Mug is on Thames Street in Palermo Soho.
45. [Bari Coffee & Drinks](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/bari-coffee-and-drinks.md) (San Nicolás · Good). Bari Coffee & Drinks on Avenida Corrientes keeps a longer coffee shelf than most bars this size. The menu sells 250 g bags with the origin on the label: Castillo from Fincas de Guadalupe in natural and washed versions, Nueva Segovia and Altiplano from Nicaragua, Atitlán, Quiché and a Geisha from Guatemala, and Nyeri and Machakos from Kenya. You can order V60 for one or two cups, or stay with espresso, flat white or an espresso tonic. Pastries, bagels and wraps cover the food, and later in the day the list adds beer, gin and tonic and vermouth.
46. [Good Joe](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/good-joe-coffee-to-go.md) (Belgrano · Good). Good Joe calls itself a specialty café, and the name says how it works: coffee to go, with a short menu and no long wait. Beyond espresso, ristretto, flat white and lattes, it brews filter by hand, an AeroPress for one person or a Chemex for two, and a cold brew that is steeped and then filtered. The menu is short by design, with its own pastries and simple food. The brand has a second shop in Acassuso, outside the city.
47. [Zeta Café](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/zeta-cafe.md) (Caballito · Good). Zeta is a family café on Avenida Pedro Goyena in Caballito, open since August 2025. The family designed and built the room themselves, and it is set up for long stays, with plugs for laptops, and dogs are welcome. The coffee is a specialty Catuaí blend from Brazil, ground to order for the espresso bar: flat white, latte, cappuccino. The pastry is made in house, from croissants filled with pastry cream to a Basque cheesecake, and there are gluten-free options. Bring work and stay a while.
48. [Las Heliconias coffee roasters](https://goodcoffeein.com/buenos-aires/las-heliconias-coffee-roasters.md) (Almagro · Good). Las Heliconias is a Colombian family business that grows, processes and imports coffee from its own farm, then roasts it in Buenos Aires in small batches. It says each lot comes with its story: who grew it, how it was processed and when it was roasted. Its tasting room at Avenida Belgrano and Yapeyú, in Almagro, opens on weekdays during office hours. Come here to taste a Colombian coffee with a direct line to the farm, and ask about the lot in the cup.

This one is on Montañeses, in Belgrano. Little of its menu is published online, so ask at the counter which of the house coffees is on espresso and take a bag home if you like it.
