A coffee guide to Brasília

How to spend a coffee day in Brasília: where the roasters are, what to order and when to go.

All coffee shops in Brasília

Specialty coffee in Brasília grew out of a few cafés in the commercial blocks of the Plano Piloto. Ernesto opened in the Asa Sul in 2011, and by 2016 Los Baristas in the Asa Norte had a brew bar with several hand-brew methods. The next step was roasting. AHA! Cafés started as a micro-roastery in 2016, Pilotis began roasting in 2018, Quanto Café and Civitá Café added roasters in 2021, and by 2023 the local press counted more than a dozen roasters in the city. In 2021 a newspaper coffee map, the Mapa Afetivo dos Cafés, put many of the cafés in this guide on one page.

The city is built in sectors, so the cafés cluster in the commercial strips between the residential superquadras. The Asa Norte is the best base for a coffee day: Quanto Café is at 103, the Asa Norte Ernesto at 108, AHA! Cafés and Concreto Café share the 111 strip, Los Baristas is at 404 and Pató at 407, and Civitá Café and Marilda Café sit near the W3 at 709 and 716. Further north, Acervo Café is at 116, Pilotis at 315 and Studio Grão at 413. In the Asa Sul, Muy is at 307, Mercado do Café is on the W3 at 509 and the original Ernesto is at 115. The Sudoeste has the Studio Grão flagship, a short walk from Saboretto. Distances are long and the blocks are built for cars, so plan one wing per morning and use a ride app between them.

What to order: a hand-brewed filter of a Brazilian lot. Menus often name the region and the producer, and the Caparaó, Bahia, the Mogiana and the Cerrado Mineiro come up often. Several cafés serve a microlot in a V60, an AeroPress or a Clever, and Saboretto brings a card with the origin, variety and process of every cup. For a different take, Nitrogênio has built its whole menu around cold brew and nitro coffee.

Most cafés open in the morning and close in the early evening, and many close on Sunday or Monday, so check the hours on each shop's own page before you go. Ernesto keeps the longest hours, from seven in the morning to ten at night. Pilotis opens only in the afternoon on weekdays and on Saturday morning.

To take beans home, buy them from the cafés that roast. AHA! Cafés, Quanto Café, Civitá Café, Los Baristas, Studio Grão, Acervo, Pilotis and Muy all sell their own roasts in bags, and at Pilotis and Muy you can taste at the counter before you choose. Ask for whole beans and the roast date. Each June the Coffee Brasília festival brings the city's roasters, baristas and producers together for four days.

  1. No. 1

    Quanto Café

    Asa NorteMust-try

Quanto opened in 2018 on CLN 103 Norte and has roasted its own coffee there since 2021. The house rule is that no beans are served more than 40 days after roasting. Filter coffee is brewed in a Hario V60 or an AeroPress, with lots from regions such as Caparaó and the Cerrado Mineiro, and the espresso is a 40 ml double. The tables sit on a wooden deck under the trees, the kitchen makes its own food, and you can buy the house coffee by weight.

    Los Baristas. Coffee House

    Asa NorteMust-try

Los Baristas has been on the commercial block of CLN 404 Norte for more than a decade and now roasts the coffee it serves and sells. It buys from producers it knows and tells the story of each farm, and recent posts feature a lot from Piatã, in the Chapada Diamantina. The filter menu has long been the draw, with several hand-brew methods, and the baristas like to explain them from behind the counter. Sit at the bar, ask for the lot of the day and take a bag home.

    Civitá Café

    Asa NorteMust-try

Civitá began in 2014 and, since 2021, its café on the 709 Norte strip has also been its roastery and its coffee school. Co-owner Fernando Bakker roasts the coffee and teaches, and the lots on the menu carry the producer's name, with many from Bahia this harvest. The Escola de Cafés runs courses from the basics to home brewing and sensory evaluation. The room is small, with about forty seats. Ask what came out of the roaster this week and try it as a filter.

    AHA! Cafés

    Asa NorteMust-try

AHA started in 2016 as a micro-roastery and later opened a café, which shares a space with the roastery and the coffee shop on CLN 111 Norte. The owners buy hand-picked lots from small farms in Caparaó, Bahia and the Mogiana and work with growers near Brasília. The coffee list changes with the harvest and names the producing family. Try a filter on the Gabi dripper or the batch brew, with a slice of the house broa, and take a 250 g bag home.

    ACERVO CAFÉ

    Asa Norte+1 locationMust-try

Acervo began in 2017 as a tiny café in Guará and grew into a roastery that buys its lots from farms and producer associations, from a Gesha grown in Carmo de Minas to catuaí from the Caparaó. Its recent coffees include a lot from producer Rodrigo Mazzoco made with the Danish roaster La Cabra. This café on CLN 116 is its newest room, designed by founder Paulo Lins, with large windows, plants and music chosen with care. Order a filter of the current lot and stay a while. Its second café, on the mezzanine of the Livraria da Travessa bookshop at CasaPark in Guará, seats about a hundred among the shelves.

    Studio Grão Coffee Roasters

    Sudoeste+2 locationsMust-try

Studio Grão is a roastery first: it supplies cafés around Brazil and, from this shop on 301 Sudoeste, runs a coffee school whose modules go from the basics to extraction methods, water and sensory analysis. The coffees come from different regions, varieties and post-harvest processes, and the shelf names its lots, a Geisha and a Catucaí among them. Ask the bar to brew two lots side by side to compare them, and take a bag of the one you prefer.

    Marilda Café

    Asa NorteMust-try

Marilda is a neighbourhood café on 716 Norte, on the W3 side, open every day from nine in the morning to eight at night. The coffee list goes further than most all-day cafés: espresso drinks, a house filter, and a microlot brewed to order in a V60, an AeroPress or a Clever. The kitchen covers toasts, sandwiches, a short lunch menu and homemade cakes, and there is a quieter room downstairs. Order the microlot by the method you prefer and stay for a slice of apple crumble.

    Pató Cafeteria

    Asa NorteMust-try

Pató is a small café and patisserie on the corner of the CLN 407 Norte commercial block. Coplanar Arquitetura designed it in 2021: the canopy is the main seating area and looks over the superquadra's green, and the black-and-white tiles honour Athos Bulcão, who designed the façade of the school next door. The bar serves espresso, a house filter coffee and cold brew drinks such as the Gengibrew, with ginger and lemon. Pair your cup with a pastel de nata made from Vó Therezinha's recipe. The chocolate in the mocha is made in house.

    Concreto Café

    Asa NorteMust-try

Concreto is a small specialty café on the commercial block of 111 Norte. Next to the espresso bar it brews filter coffee by method, and since it opened in 2024 the baristas have walked customers through the coffees, which have included natural and fermented lots. Ask what is on for filter that week. Cold brew and iced lattes cover the hot afternoons, and the short food menu makes it an easy stop for a coffee and a light bite between the other cafés on the 111 strip.

    Muy Café Brasília

    Asa SulMust-try

Muy is a specialty roaster from Goiânia, and its Brasília shop on CLS 307 Sul is a place to taste before you buy rather than a classic café. Walk in and the team will brew the coffees you are curious about at the counter and talk you through origin, process and tasting notes. The coffees come from several Brazilian regions and the shop also runs a subscription club. Come here to choose your beans, and leave with a bag.

    Brasilia Coffee's Market

    Asa SulGood

Mercado do Café, on the W3 Sul at CRS 509, is a café, a coffee shop and a training room in one place. Founder Tete Moulaz, whose family grows coffee, opened it in 2018 and still works the bar. The menu runs from espresso to filter, French press and AeroPress, and the house coffee, Moulaz, is chocolatey and full-bodied. The space runs courses on brewing and roasting, and in 2024 it was the venue for a stage of the Brazilian Latte Art Championship. Buy a bag or join the coffee club before you leave.

Ernesto opened on 115 Sul in 2011 and is one of the cafés that started Brasília's specialty scene. Since 2021 it has roasted its own coffee, with master roaster Marcelo Ribeiro checking the beans, the storage and the roast, and in 2024 its coffee was used in the Brazilian Latte Art Championship stage held in the city. Filter comes by V60 or French press, with origins that change with the harvest. The bread comes from its own bakery, and the house is big and busy from early morning to late evening.

    Pilotis

    Asa NorteGood

Pilotis has roasted coffee in Brasília since 2018, and in 2025 it opened a shop and lab on CLN 315 Norte. The name comes from the columns that lift the city's buildings, and many of its coffees are numbered after the superquadras. It is a roaster's counter more than a café: you walk in, taste coffees brewed in a V60, a French press, an AeroPress or as cold brew, and buy the bag you like. It also runs courses and workshops. Check the afternoon hours before you go.

Saboretto is a small café on a commercial block in Sudoeste that treats each cup as a lot with a story. Every coffee arrives with a card that names the origin, the producer, the variety, the post-harvest process, the altitude and the tasting notes. For filter the bar uses an Orea V4, a flat-bottom brewer that gives a quick, even extraction. The house bakes its own bread, the caprese toast is a regular order, and on Sundays it opens in the morning for brunch.

    SIGGood

Lazo roasts each of its coffees separately, in small batches, from beans it buys directly from small and medium Brazilian producers. Its first café is in the Centro Empresarial Parque Brasília, in the SIG, and opens on weekdays from eight in the morning, which makes it a natural stop for a focused hour of work with a filter at your side. There is a short lunch menu as well as coffee, and the banoffee is the dessert the café likes to show off.

    Paradeiro

    Asa NorteGood

Paradeiro is a street bookshop on CLN 309 Norte with a café and a small kitchen, and it reads as a meeting place more than a coffee bar. The coffee is specialty coffee from Mokado Lab de Cafés, a Brasília roaster, and the room fills up for book launches, talks with authors, writing meetups and workshops. Come in the afternoon, take a coffee to a table between the shelves, and check the agenda on its Instagram before you go, because the evenings are often booked with events.

The coffee is specialty coffee from Mokado, the Brasília roastery whose head roaster won the Brazilian roasting championship, and the drinks menu plays with the theme, from the Catpuccino to cold brews. It opens in the afternoon, Tuesday to Sunday.

Nitrogênio calls itself Brazil's first café that specialises in cold brew. The cold brew steeps for 22 to 24 hours and is filtered twice, and the nitro coffee is that cold brew infused with nitrogen, which makes it creamy and smooth. Since August 2026 it runs as a snack bar inside the Escola Meiaseteoito at 704/705 Norte, on the side that faces the 704. It is still open to the public, with tables outside, while the school uses the main room. Order a nitro on its own or mixed with orange juice or coconut water.

The Coffee Hut is an all-day café on the commercial block of 213 Norte, open every day. The espresso comes from Mokado, a Brasília roastery whose master roaster won the national roasting championship in 2024, and the cappuccino is made the Italian way, with only espresso and steamed milk. Brunch combos, lunch and cakes fill much of the menu, and the house keeps room for people who come to work, so it suits a long morning with a laptop more than a quick tasting.

On weekdays it opens in the afternoon, there is brunch on weekend mornings, and on pizza nights you can bring your own wine with no corkage fee.

The coffee comes from the Seleções brand, from several Brazilian regions including the Centre-West, served as filter, espresso or cappuccino. Try the baru brownie, made with the region's nut, or a house tea named after Brasília, such as the Céu de Brasília.
